Well the year is coming to a close and I have successfully completed my 2023 New Years resolution.  It is with mixed emotions, both a heavy and Joyous heart when I write this to think back  with awww to remember just how fast the year has gone!  And to think it all started with an impromptu trip to Missouri duck hunting.

If you have followed my journey, I am sure you are curious to see where it all comes to an end and with which artist.  But first I have to give you a glimpse of my first concert in December, although not country, but a great night of music dancing and friendship.

A fantastic local band from Lima, Ohio.  A Journey Tribute Band...... New Frontiers!   I'm sure Steve Perry would have been proud!  They were AWESOME!!!

Well to share my last concert of 2023, I want to recall the night in reverse order.  To end the last concert day of 2023 we retired to a super cool bar/lounge in one of my favorite cities where we were treated to an inspiring Jazz artist...Ginetta's Vendetta.  I have to admit that Jazz is not one of my favorite genres of music but she was so inspiring as a confident intelligent friendly older woman that I have to say that I'm not only a fan of her music but most definitely of her.  I recommend checking her out on  YouTube.

(a super cool cat...)

or if you are ever in.....NEW YORK CITY!!!   Yep my final concert of the year was decided back the early fall when one of my favorite artist announced a one night only Christmas show in the Big Apple.  Given the chaos since 2020 associated with Covid our yearly Christmas trips to NYC were cancelled and due to news of growing violent crime I thought we would never return.  But my husband insisted that we go to NYC (amazing given his propensity for paranoia and personal safety) to see this Christmas show.  So in keeping with his "safety plan" he booked us at the nicest hotel close to the concert venue...The Wallace hotel.  So when our Uber dropped us off at the hotel as we were checking in....

we ran into the artist wife!(and she could not have been any kinder).  And then the Artist!!

I'm still in SHOCK!!!   This is the way my year is closing out, he is not only staying in the same hotel but him and his wife could not have been any friendlier and pleasant to talk to.  So for those who aren't country music fans (though I thought I would have influenced you to become one by now!) the final planned show was Jon Pardi's Christmas show at the Beacon Theatre in NYC.  Again the disbelief of Jon and his wife Summer staying at our hotel is still amazing to me, anyway onward to the concert.

thank you to Pillbox Patti for joining Jon on this song

So there it is my final concert of 2023.  I have to promote Jon Pardi's Christmas album, it really is great.  His rendition of "Please Come Home for Christmas" where he adds a stanza of Amazing Grace brings tears to my eyes (even after having listened to it about 153 times!...  even for my husband, though he probably wouldn't admit it :) ). It's a song like no other!   Hats off to the horn section and Jon's band who are truly amazingly talented.  I have seen Jon Pardi 3 times this year and I want to simply say that his band is not only "truly amazing" but they are "present".  They are involved and almost infectious with their enjoyment of playing as is Jon with singing/entertaining.  Well I could go on for a long time expressing my enjoyment of the final concert of 2023, but you get the picture.  Thank you for following my blog as I documented a crazy commitment to enjoying other humans doing something I only wish I could do, sing country music.  But no matter, God has given me other talents and enjoy all of His creation.

One last thing before my journey comes to a close.... I encourage each and everyone of you to make a New Years Resolution that makes you happy!  One that brings great joy to your heart!  When I made my commitment one year ago, it wasn't about losing weight or working out more or eating better (which are all great things) but to one of my favorite hobbies/life enjoyments!     I want you to commit to something fun, interesting, new, intriguing, inspiring, challenging....  Along my journey I was able to meet people, admire who they have become and watch them live out their dreams ...and that too has made me a better person.

May all of you find joy and prosper in this upcoming year ... allow your heart to find happiness and live your life to the fullest.  The only day that matters is Today!!

2023 ...My Dearest Friends....That's a Wrap!!

So the year pushes on to August...and wow so many artists in July on one fabulous weekend!

August ...well there is a lot to say about this month!  First off ...it is again someone who was on my hit list of the year.   This person is truly someone that I have never seen before and truly admire his life story.  If you are not familiar with it, I encourage you to take the time to read up on his past and how far he has come.  He inspires great hope and belief.

But first his openers... and this goes back to the discussion way early in this blog about taste and see 2023.  I have fallen off in blogging about taste and as earlier mentioned about my outfits.  I need not mention my outfits but how about this one for one of the openers.....

Is Ingrid wearing a dress or shorts, forward or backward... Im just not sure... none the less she was very good and exceeded my expectations!

and next up.....Breeland!!  He in his own way has a style and warmth and engages the crowd!!  Hats off to Breeland!!

And to the August show I have been waiting for and to check another off my hit list.....Im feeling very "fancy like"!!!

Who has ever seen Walker in a cowboy hat?!?!?   Very out of his norm...and it is wonderful!!

A shout out to Walker...Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!  I knew you were on my hit list for 2023 New Years resolution for a reason!  I must thank you Walker for it was you who opened my eyes to  Zach Williams (whom was my April concert)... as It is "Jesus' Fault" and for that I am forever thankful!  And with that ...Walker closed out his tour...

So if that concert was not an experience in itself and a big check mark on my hit list let me tell you my friends....yes friends ....I consider you friends at this point if you have taken the time to follow me this far in my 2023 resolution.   So August concerts are yet to be over... so let me reitterate my 2023 New years resolution... one live country concert each month of the year.  Well dearest friends...I believe August is going to the biggest month yet!   Now July as you know was packed with artists but that was a country concert weekend where the artists play three days back to back.   But August was 3 consecutive weekends of planned concerts all different venues both near an far.

Thanks agin to Walker who kicked things off... and now on to the next adventure...

Off to Red Rock Amphitheater...

First off, this venue is truly divine.  The amazing orientation of GIGANTIC rocks (almost like pieces of a mountain, they are so big) formed this amphitheater that is not only beautiful beyond description but has near perfect acoustics for two night of artists.  These artists again were incredible.  We went for the headliners but the entire line up of opening acts left me asking myself again "how is it that I've never heard of these people?!" due to their talent and great performances.

William Beckmann---I'd never heard of him but instantly we became fans.  Highly recommend checking him out.  Bourbon Whisky, Tennessee Drinking,...

The Randy Roger's Band---we were told "they are huge in Texas".  Well they should be huger in Ohio---great talent and super fun.  Side note, Parker McCollum gives them/him Randy Roger's for kick starting his career.

And for a perfect repeat (with mostly different playlist) Parker McCollum.  He was great (again!) and just when we thought the concert was getting ready to end...

Payton Manning showed up trying to intercept the show!!!  I've never had a celebrity show up unannounced (and I've been to a few), LOL!   They performed a Brooks and Dunn song.  I think they might both have a side hustle available if they every need it.  That was a wrap for Thursday at Red Rocks.

So the third August show, we are still at Red Rocks.  Kicking off the show is DJ HIGHMAX.  That boy can mix some music!

Next up Randall King....another great artist who should be known in the great state of Ohio.  BTW, is this photo not superb?!

Larry Fleet who was again fabulous....and of course "Crazy Legs" is back.  If you ever get the chance to see them live, they will not disappoint.

And finally our second night/third concert headliner....

yep Jon Pardi.  I hate to say "I told you so", except when I get to tell my husband "I told you so!" but who was it that was so impressed and after singing along to every song (he does like Jon Pardi's music, just wasn't sure about how'd he perform) that he went and bought two, not one, but two T shirts for himself.  Well'p if the boot fits you are going to wear it...."I told you so!!"  Jon Pardi was, in my husband's words, "unfrickin believable!!!".  And he was.  (told you so!, LOL)

Anyway one more little surprise the next morning...

"Hey Jon, great show last night!"  What a trip!

And to close out August, at our local county fair...

Ella Langley opener at our local county fair!

and the headliner is...

So to close out August, how very fortunate I felt.  Amazing month of music.

July 2023

With the home projects FINALLY nearing completion...I could go FULL FORCE country music.  With this attitude, July did not disappoint.

June 2023

The late spring was going crazy at this point, as well as some (what felt like) ETERNAL home projects so June was fortunately a little light on country music (though not some of the suffering sung about in country songs:) ) Anyway John Michael Montgomery and his brother Eddie came to our town.  They were great.  We had a great time.

So my friends......sorry for the delay but I am back and ready to tell you about the April concerts ....yes concerts with an "s" !

So the first concert is none other than one of my favorites ....

But first ...throw back to February concert and the the opening act was Tyler Braden who was also the opener for Mitchell Tenpenny!  and again he did not disappoint.

His guitarist with his rocking hair...

And now onto the headliner of this show......Riley Green!!!  I can't even explain to you how excited I was when I found out that he was going to perform in my area.  And the venue setting was perfect  ...Clyde Theater Ft. Wayne, Indiana.  This venue was small but quaint and perfect for this concert.

Went with a great friend....met some nice people....

Shout out to Riley on your Duckman Tour.....Excellent Job!  You put on a great concert!!

And one last thing ..... To my friend Tom.....I may just have got the chance to meet him!  Ha Ha!

With that being said ......April is not over ...

This next April Concert was one like no other....and the most moving of this year to date. This next concert was like no other concert I had ever been to.  But before I go any further into who it is....as always first....the opening act.

This guy is an amazing artist but even a more amazing song writer......Blessing Offor and yes it is "or" not "er"   I highly recommend you check out his music especially the song Tin Roof.

So the closer for my April concert schedule was simply amazing.  If you ever feel down and out listen to this next guy who will give you hope and direction in this crazy world.  He sings with such encouragement and with pure honesty.  He gives you encouragement  and he delivers a profound message through his own life experiences.  His music may not be for everyone but for us beleivers he sings of great joy on the righteous path.  And Thank you to Walker Hayes (who by the way is on my hit list this year) for releasing a song with this artist and that is exactly how I discovered him.  And for me there is no looking back!

Ok I have done lost my mind!!  I was so excited to tell you just how moving and inspirational this artist was and I didn't even tell you who he was!  I could have went back and rewrote things to tell you who he was but then I realized ... it just goes to show that actions speak louder than words!  My excitement to share with you says it all!!

This is an American Christian Rock artist....... ZACH WILLIAMS!

March 2023
